The Black Barn was renovated to have a new life as a family gathering space.
The clients repurposed the historic barn as an activity hub for their grown children and grandchildren. Nestled between the river and woods, a simple and restrained landscape highlights the barn while introducing outdoor gathering spaces and defined pathways.
The guest cottage, transformed from an old chicken coop, sits on a hill overlooking the barn. Crushed stone paths and flowering dogwood trees provide a connection between the two spaces.
An informal stone path borders the woodland, leading to a fire pit overlooking a trout stream.
